Privacy Policy

for the EyeMinute mobile application

The EyeMinute mobile application ("the App") is developed and operated by Sommer Media s.r.o., a company registered in the Czech Republic, with its registered office at Oldřichovice 738, 739 61 Třinec, Czech Republic. We respect your privacy and take care with your data. This policy explains what information the App processes, why we process it, the legal basis for processing, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / EU 2016/679).

About this policy

This policy explains how EyeMinute handles data. If you do not agree with how the App processes data as described here, please do not use the App.

Data collection

Personal data

EyeMinute requires no sign-up and no user account. We do not collect direct personal data such as your name, email, or phone number.

Local data (settings and statistics)

Your settings, exercise statistics, daily streak, and reminder schedule are stored locally on your device and are not synced to our servers or any cloud account. EyeMinute does not create user profiles and does not access your camera or photo library. Local data is removed when you uninstall the App. Usage events and crash reports are processed separately - see the analytics section below.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device to nudge you for a 20-20-20 break during the active hours you choose. Notifications never travel through our servers - your phone's operating system fires them at the scheduled time. You can disable them anytime in Settings.

Voice guidance

Optional voice guidance uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine (Apple / Google). Spoken prompts are generated on-device; no audio or text is sent to our servers. You can toggle voice on or off anytime in Settings or directly from the exercise screen.

Crash reporting and analytics

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) for crash reporting and usage analytics. Processed data includes: device model, OS version, country/region (derived from IP, never precise location), timestamps, app version, crash stack traces, a Firebase installation identifier, and interaction events (e.g. "exercise_completed", "paywall_opened"). We do not use this data to identify you personally.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) - improving the stability and quality of the App.

Retention: crash reports and analytics are kept according to Firebase defaults (up to 14 months).

Feedback

If you submit written feedback through the in-app rating prompt, your message and rating are sent to our Firebase Firestore database with a timestamp. This content is not linked to any device identifier, and we cannot identify the sender. Feedback is used solely to improve the App.

International data transfers

Some of our processors (Google LLC, RevenueCat, Apple Inc.) operate servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. These transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) under Article 46 GDPR and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

Purchases

The one-time lifetime purchase is processed by RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., U.S.) and the Apple App Store / Google Play. We only see an anonymous purchase status - never your payment details or identity.

Children's privacy

EyeMinute is rated 4+ / Everyone but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the App, please contact us at privacy@sommer.media and we will remove it.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access your data and request a copy (Article 15)
  • Request correction of inaccurate data (Article 16)
  • Request erasure of your data (Article 17)
  • Restrict processing (Article 18)
  • Data portability (Article 20)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Article 21)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the legal basis)
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77)

In the Czech Republic the supervisory authority is Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (ÚOOÚ), www.uoou.gov.cz.

The App uses the following processors, each with its own privacy policy:

  • App Store - Apple Inc. (apple.com/privacy)
  • Google Play - Google LLC (privacy.google.com)

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. We will communicate material changes in the App or on this page before they take effect.
